Fahrenheit (known as Indigo Prophecy in North America) is a third-person adventure game which is set in near future New York City. The most important thing to note about Fahrenheit is that it doesn't fall in a specific genre. The game feels a lot like a movie, but the interaction is extensive enough that the player is a crucial part of the unfolding storyline. Lucas Kane is a normal guy working in a bank. One night, in a diner in Brooklyn, he suddenly falls in a sort of state of trance. Like a puppet on strings, he stands up, takes his knife, and goes in the restroom. He carves strange symbols on his arms and then stabs an unsuspecting businessman to death. Then he becomes himself again, and realizes what just happened. Covered in blood, Lucas regains control and awareness, but with no idea why he killed this man. Now, Lucas is a murderer. And this is where the game begins. From here you have a choice. You can just casually walk out, run out, or clean yourself up first, or hide the body, etc. Only as you find out more about the sinister plot that surrounds the murder does the game progress.

In the game you control not only the killer Lucas Kane, but also the police detectives Carla and Tyler. This means that throughout the game you can choose which scenes/parts to play first, which characters to continue with first, and the ability to tackle the game from both sides - killer and police. The game does an excellent job in getting you involved in the plot. Since you play both Lucas and the detectives investigating the murder, you feel the sense of urgency as you struggle to put all the puzzle pieces together of each side. The fact that you are have to make a decision, just makes the game that much better. And of course, like in real life, certain choices come with consequences. Make a wrong decision and you are screwed.

The game controls well with an innovative control scheme that mostly work great. Movement is done with the arrows or by holding down both mouse buttons. Interaction with the environment as well as conversations show the possible choices a player can make by displaying icons on the top bar of the screen. You must make a mouse gesture (similar to Black & White's spell casting system), representing the action you want to execute. There's also a timer in conversations, so you must think quickly what option you'll choose. The action sequences are unique. Rather than use the keyboard or controller to throw punches or block attacks, there is a series of flashing lights corresponding to controller positions or keystrokes that one must mimic in a very short amount of time. Depend on how well you do, Lucas will move accordingly. You'll often have to perform long strings of commands while the action unfolds onscreen. Sure, it can be childish/frustrating at times, but it's nice to see how the button combinations match the action sequences on the screen. It can even be an exciting and fun experience. Simply, it works, and it works well. The controls of this game never gave me any trouble and were very easy to use.

One of the innovative features is that the state of mind actually has to be taken care of in Fahrenheit - a bar in the bottom left corner of the screen displays your Mental Health. The Mental Health of the characters can change depending on their actions, their moral choices and the relationships they have with other characters. If they get too depressed, the consequences can be disastrous and they might end up committing suicide and then it's Game Over.

Along the game, one can collect cards that contribute to Bonus Points. These bonus points can be used outside the game to unlock special features such as art galleries, soundtracks, mini-games and additional movies.

My only complaint is that the game is too short. The completion time is just over 10-12 hours, which makes for a very long movie or a relatively short game, but there is a saving grace. Because the game is freeform as much as it can be, the plot alters at certain decisions and you'll want to go back and check out different scenarios.

Overall, Fahrenheit is a great game, it's the fresh air that adventure gamers needed since Syberia was released. So if you haven't picked this game up yet, I would recommend it! I really hope for a follow-up to this game..

The Guild 2: Venice is a stand-alone expansion that purports to be all about the legendary sinking city best known for its canals and singing gondoliers, but it's actually just a third-rate face-lift of its predecessors. The only noteworthy additions to this economic simulation are a couple of new professions, four new scenarios depicting Venice and its neighbors on the Adriatic Sea, and some horrific bugs. So even if you're hungry for more merchant-on-merchant action after the original game and its Pirates of the High Seas add-on, you don't need to take this Venetian holiday.

If you played any prior Guild 2 games, you'll find the gameplay here very familiar. You once more sign on as one of four medieval classes and work at making money, building RPG-like skills, and going forth and procreating to establish a multigenerational dynasty. That description makes the game sound a little more far-ranging than it actually is, however. Instead of a role-playing medieval adventure, you're actually playing a merchant in a humdrum real-time economic sim. The patron, craftsman, scholar, and rogue classes may allow you to take on a wide range of occupations that stretch all the way from priest to highwayman, but each deals with nearly identical buy-and-sell busywork. As a priest, for instance, you set up a church and make your daily bread by selling holy water and the sacrament. On the other end of the moral spectrum as a rogue, you do pretty much the same thing, although you take a shortcut to wealth by stealing items that you later sell. All of the lines of work here seem just about identical, with similar goals that mainly revolve around buying raw materials and turning them into finished goods dished out for a profit. Basically, you're playing a medieval workshop boss, with all of the thrills and chills that such a job entails.

Police Quest: SWAT 2 (1998) was an isometric view, team-based RTS game in the line of the classic X-Com or Jagged Alliance games, but with a more tactical component. The game takes place in real-time, with the player issuing orders to individual SWAT team members from a three-quarter overhead view of the level. Many of the game's missions were based on real life events, such as the North Hollywood shootout.

The game's story revolves around a conflict between SWAT and an emerging left-wing domestic terrorist group called "the Five Eyes". The game features two separate campaigns, one in which you control SWAT and another in which you take the role of a lieutenant in the Five Eyes terrorist organization.

As a homage, Sonny Bonds, the protagonist of the original Police Quest series, is one of the SWAT officers available for you to send into missions during the SWAT campaign. Sonny is an element leader and has some of the best stats in the game.

With much more positive reviews than the previous two games, it still had several flaws, such as the overly complicated interface and imperfect AI.

Drifting feels different to PGR, but it grows on you in the same way.

We're only too happy to oblige, as they're almost all great picks. Pro Touge, for instance, is a furious one-on-one race on tight Japanese mountain roads in slippery Japanese cars. You start marginally ahead of your rival and blast down the hill in the first phase, drifting around tight corners, and then start marginally behind him for the second, belting back up to the summit. Contact between cars is forbidden, with the second-place racer hit with a time penalty for any shunts, and the winner is determined by the cumulative gap in seconds between the two competitors. Pausing and restarting sends you all the way back to the top of the hill, so it demands concentration, and its sibling, Midnight Touge, is a one-way, no-holds-barred descent in the dark, and occasionally terrifying.

Total Annihilation a.k.a. TA is a futuristic RTS PC game, created by Chris Taylor and Cavedog Entertainment and released on September 30, 1997[1] by GT Interactive. It was the first RTS to feature 3D units and terrain, a significant achievement in the days before graphics cards with hardware based 3D acceleration became commonplace. Two expansion packs were released, The Core Contingency on April 30, 1998[2] and Battle Tactics on June 30, 1998.[3] The game won many awards, including Gamespot's Game of the Year Award for 1997. TA is considered to be one of the best RTS games of all time, and is still played actively today, more than 9 years after its release.

Recently, a remake of the game with a 3D graphics engine has been created named Spring. Total Annihilation creator Chris Taylor has also recently created the game Supreme Commander through Gas Powered Games. Supreme Commander has many similarities with Total Annihilation, and has been called its "spiritual successor".

PC Specific Features:

* Rockstar have claimed the "modding community will be supported." Specifically in what ways is yet to be seen.

A great part of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the possiblity to modify it: Rockstar claims to have left important game data files unlocked and in text files as opposed to hard-coding them in the game. Although Rockstar lists "player modifications support" as a feature, it's safe to assume that Rockstar will not be providing any game editors with the game, and we can expect to be able to import additional player skins, probably in the form of clothes. Player models are at the moment split into around 10 different pieces, with two of each for different fitness levels. As such, player skins as seen in GTA Vice City are unlikely, unless we are provided with a custom slot with a single static mesh skin. Bear in mind that this is simply speculation at this point, as nothing solid has been confirmed yet.

It was decided that the PC version of San Andreas will not have an inbuilt 2-player mode as "the dual keyboard and mouse set up proved too unwieldy for players and didn't work with the PC version of San Andreas' greatly improved free camera mechanics. Rockstar North decided to focus on maximizing the single player experience."
